With the latest advancements in facial rejuvenation, you can achieve more beautiful, smoother skin without undergoing an intimidating surgical procedure.

What is Ultherapy?

FDA-approved Ultherapy®, also known as Ulthera®, is a non-invasive treatment that utilizes ultrasound technology to regenerate the deepest layers of tissue to create healthier-looking skin. It is the latest in skin rejuvenation technology, and can provide an attractive alternative to facelift surgery for many patients who have only mild to moderate signs of facial aging.

How Ultherapy® Works

As we age, our skin begins to lose its elasticity, causing fine lines and wrinkles. Although BOTOX® injections and surgeries like the eyelid lift can effectively reduce these concerns, Ultherapy® is the first non-surgical device that can target the same skin layer that is tightened during a facelift (the SMAS layer). It works by ultrasonic energy sending heat deep into the skin’s layers, which promotes collagen regrowth, gradually tightening and lifting your skin. The treatment is designed to activate your body’s natural healing process, which can restore your healthy, beautiful skin, ultimately resulting in a more youthful appearance.

Are you a candidate for Ultherapy?

As a gentle and safe facial rejuvenation procedure, Ultherapy is generally considered a terrific option for most patients. As long as you want a non-invasive way to address sagging skin and wrinkles on your face and neck, there’s a very good chance that you’ll be able to have this treatment. In general, candidates for Ultherapy are in their 30s and 40s with mild to moderate skin laxity. In addition, they often feature loose, sagging skin around the neck and eye area and want to proactively address early signs of aging.

Although Ultherapy is a very effective and beneficial treatment, it’s important to note that it is not a facelift replacement. As such, if you need to address very advanced signs of aging, such as deep wrinkles and severely loose skin, you will likely require a surgical procedure to correct those issues.

The Ultherapy® treatment process

If you decide to undergo Ultherapy®, you can typically expect the treatment to last about an hour to an hour and a half, depending on the extent of your needs. Dr. White will direct the waves of ultrasonic energy to the areas of the face being targeted for enhancement. With the advanced ultrasound imaging, he can see the deeper skin tissues while treating them, allowing him to customize energy levels for better comfort and efficacy.

Results can often be seen immediately, but it typically takes about two to three months for the optimum effect to be visible. Some patients have even been found to see improvement for up to six months! It is a gradual process that revitalizes your skin so it is less obvious that you had any work done.

It’s important to note that although Ultherapy delivers long-lasting results, it cannot halt the aging process. As such, you will need to schedule routine maintenance visits on an ongoing basis to preserve your youthful new look and address additional signs of aging as they develop. This is attested to by the results in our Ultherapy New York patients, as seen in the gallery.

No recovery time is usually needed following the treatment, and most patients can return to work right away. Dr. White’s patients frequently refer to him as one of the best providers of Ultherapy in New York.

TheRecovery Process

Our New York City Ultherapy clinic offers a completely non-invasive facial rejuvenation treatment option. With Ultherapy® there are no incisions or injections, so there is minimal downtime associated with this procedure and no special instructions for your aftercare. You will be able to resume your normal daily activities right away. With that said, some of our patients do experience a mild, flushed appearance and slight swelling and tenderness in the treatment area, though these effects are very mild and usually subside fairly quickly.

FAQ S

Ultherapy®

Is Ultherapy safe?

Ultherapy is FDA-cleared and established as a safe and effective procedure. It delivers ultrasound technology to the skin, which is extremely safe and has been used in medicine for decades.

Is Ultherapy painful?

All patients have different pain thresholds. With that said, most of Dr. White’s clients report that Ultherapy is very comfortable, and they only feel mild and temporary pain while the ultrasound energy is being administered. This sensation is actually positive, because it indicates that new collagen is being created.

Is Ultherapy a replacement for a facelift?

No, Ultherapy cannot replace a facelift for a patient who has extensive signs of aging that need to be addressed. However, if you’re suffering from mild to moderate skin laxity and you’re not quite ready for a surgical procedure, it’s a terrific non-invasive option that can deliver a dramatic improvement.

How is Ultherapy different from lasers?

Lasers are used to address imperfections on the skin’s surface, such as fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage. Ultherapy addresses the deepest layers of the skin to elevate aging tissues. Because these treatments target different problems, they are very often performed together for a comprehensive transformation.

Dr. White is an Expert in Ultherapy®

Our skilled plastic surgeon was the lead author of the first Ultherapy® article ever published in a medical journal. The study was featured in the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, detailing how the delivery of energy to the SMAS layer was delivered in a way that didn’t harm the outer skin layer. He also led the team who performed the first clinical trial of the advanced system, which revealed the safety of the technology. Dr. White has authored three of the mere five articles published on Ultherapy® in medical literature. As such, Dr. White could be considered to be one of the few top providers of Ultherapy in NYC.
