SCULPTRA® INJECTABLE PROCEDURE:
Sculptra® is a synthetic injectable material called poly-L-lactic acid. This material has been used for years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants and other types of implants. It is injected below the skin – in the area of the fat loss – and over time there is a gradual increase in skin thickness. Results are not immediate but occur gradually over a few weeks time. Most patients require from 3-6 treatments, with varying amounts of injected solution, and touch-up treatments are usually needed to maintain the desired effect. Treatment results typically last an average of 2 years.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER A SCULPTRA® INJECTABLE TREATMENT:
The benefits of Sculptra® far outweigh the minimal side effects patients may report. Patient satisfaction has been and continues to be outstanding. Redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness and some discomfort, in the treatment areas, is normal and to be expected. These discomforts decrease gradually each day until completely gone – typically between 3-17 days. Small bumps, under the skin of the treated area, may appear but historically disappear on their own within 6-12 months. In the meantime, use of ice packs is very effective to help reduce swelling and discomfort. You should also massage the treatment areas a few times daily for several days. You should also avoid excessive sun and UV lamp exposure – until all swelling is gone.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Am I A Good Candidate For Sculptra® Injectable?
If you are suffering with the effects of lipoatrophy caused by HIV, you could be an ideal candidate for Dr. White’s Sculptra® Injectable treatments to restore volume and contour.
What Is Sculptra® Injectable?
Sculptra® Injectable is a synthetic material known as poly-L-lactic acid which is derived from natural components. It is biocompatible and has been used for years as a main component in sutures, soft tissue implants and other types of implants that are used in humans.
How Does Sculptra® Injectable Work?
Sculptra® is injected below the skin’s surface, in the area of fat loss, where it then gradually restores an increase in skin thickness. Visible results are typically evident within the first few treatments.
When Are Results Generally Seen?
An immediate “fullness” is seen immediately and is caused by swelling at first. The true results from your Sculptra® Injectable are gradually seen as the formulation works to increase skin thickness.
Are Sculptra® Injections Painful?
YES – All injections cause some discomfort but Dr. White employs excellent skill in performing the injections to minimize discomfort. A local or topical anesthetic is often used to also help minimize discomfort if needed.
Is There Downtime With Sculptra® Injectable?
Many patients return to work right after their treatment, and you may choose to do the same. Mineral make-up works well to camouflage the swelling and bruising and it also aids in the healing process.
Will Insurance Cover Sculptra® Injectable Treatments?
Insurance does not cover cosmetic procedures unless they are medically necessary. Check with your insurance company about this. Financing is available today for cosmetic procedures. Ask about it in our business office.
