TEAR TROUGH DEFORMITY

With age the trough becomes deeper, the circles darker & tears run down the trough & out toward the side of the cheeks instead of straight down the cheek as when the person was younger.

Tear Trough Deformity is a problem that can afflict people in their 20’s and mature adults in their 80’s and older.  With age the trough becomes deeper, the circles darker, and tears run down the trough and out toward the side of the cheeks instead of straight down the cheek as when the person was younger.  Also the upper and lower eyelids lose elasticity and start to sag while fat accumulates under the lower eyelids, making the shadow appear worse and the Tear Trough deeper.  Commonly, people complain of a Tired Look – Eyelid Bags - Puffy Eyes – and Eye Bags. Until now surgery used to be the only method for correcting Tear Trough Deformity and Eyelid problems - but today Dr. White uses advanced techniques and Injection treatments – in combination with surgery when it’s required – to rejuvenate this area of the face and to restore a more youthful, natural looking appearance.

Dr. White is skilled in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries/procedures of every kind. He uses today’s most advanced – but reliable – techniques, and as a specially trained surgeon – his skill and experience achieve natural looking results – using the right treatment plan - for your specific needs.

Tear Trough Deformity is the result of the skin and muscle of the lower eyelid that are tethered down inside the inferior rim to the periorbita. As we age, the eyes, skin and muscles change and visibly reveal facial aging.

A Good Candidate:
A good candidate is anyone who suffers from Tear Trough Deformity and desires effective correction from it. You should be in otherwise good health and able to have realistic expectations.  During your initial consultation, Dr. White will thoroughly assess your condition and concerns and personalize a treatment plan to specifically meet your needs.

Your Consultation:
Dr. White believes the first consult is critical to both you and him.  It is during this time that you both achieve a mutual understanding, trust and respect. The information you provide is essential to tailoring the right treatment plan and realistic goals. Dr. White will listen carefully and sensitively before developing your personalized surgery/treatment plan.

TEAR TROUGH DEFORMITY PROCEDURES:
Dr. White will tailor your treatment to your specific needs since procedures vary from patient to patient. Surgery is not required by every patient with this problem – many times it is correctable using one of today’s amazing Injectables.  This will be determined during your personal consultation with Dr. White. If surgery is required to eliminate lower eyelid bags (Blepharoplasty) in addition to injection of the Tear Trough, the treatment can be done under one anesthetic. If you are not a good candidate for Injectable treatment of the Tear Trough Deformity, Dr. White will discuss the correct surgical procedure with you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What Causes Tear Trough Deformity?
Tear Trough Deformity is the result of the skin and muscle of the lower eyelid that are tethered down inside the inferior rim to the periorbita. As we age, the eyes,  the skin and the muscles change to show facial aging.

What Problems Are Associated With Tear Trough Deformity?
The primary concern is the “trough” that causes tears to roll from the corner of the eye and sideways across the cheek – instead of straight down the cheek.  Other concerns include:  tired look – eyelid bags – puffy eyes and dark under-eye circles.

Is Anyone A Good Candidate For Correction Of Tear Trough Deformity?
Almost everyone - of both genders and all ages – is a suitable candidate for Tear Trough Deformity correction unless there is too much under-eye fat accumulation.

Is Dr.White Qualified To Perform Tear Trough Deformity Treatments?
Dr. White is a highly trained cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon who has specialized in all procedures of the head and neck.  He has exceptional training and skills in traumatic deformities, facial paralysis which typically involves the eyes and other life-changing procedures.  He has performed many hundreds of procedures, using his refined techniques, and he also instructs other surgeons in these advanced techniques and procedures.

How Does An Injectable Filler Correct Tear Trough Deformity?
Injectables are used to replace lost volume and contour. When injected into the problem area, it plumps it up while the HA (hyaluronic acid) stimulates the bodies own renewed production.

If Surgery Is Needed For Tear Trough Deformity Correction – What Is Involved?
If surgery is necessary it will most likely be Blepharoplasty Surgery to correct excess, sagging skin of the lower eyelid. This skin overhangs and contributes to your problem.  If you are not a candidate for correction with Injectables, then you may require surgery to correct the Tear Trough Deformity.

What DownTime Is Involved With Injectable Correction?
Dr. White’s patients typically take 2-3 days off work and do nothing. They will still not look perfect but will feel more comfortable about being seen. Overall down time varies with each patient.
