If you have are considering scheduling a facelift procedure, you have many options. There are three primary types of procedures: a standard facelift, a mini facelift, and a mid-facelift. Each procedure addresses different parts of the face.
Facelift
A traditional facelift is designed to rejuvenate the face and make it appear smoother and more youthful. Dr. White is a highly skilled plastic surgeon who has performed many facelift procedures with beautiful results.
The process of planning a facelift involves an in-depth consultation to evaluate and identify the problem areas and determine the type of procedure needed. The facelift surgery is customized to produce a result that is as natural-looking as possible. You will look like yourself – just without the wrinkles, lines, and folds that can leave you looking older, tired, or even angry.
About a Traditional Facelift: The Procedure
In a traditional facelift, small incisions are made near the temples, hidden within the hairline. Dr. White takes great care to place any incision in an area that is easily concealed so you are not left with visible scars.
A traditional facelift is the most extensive of the facelift surgical procedures and is recommended for patients who need to resolve more advanced signs of facial aging. If you are looking to target a specific area of the face or are only experiencing moderate signs of aging, another type of facelift procedure may be the answer for you.
Mini Facelift
If you are experiencing signs of aging concentrated in the lower third of the face, you may want to consider a mini facelift. A mini facelift is less extreme and appropriate for patients who are seeing the signs of aging skin and tissue on the lower section of the face, and do not need a full facelift to rejuvenate facial appearance.
The Mini Facelift Procedure
During a mini facelift procedure, a small incision is placed in front of the ear to access the muscles, tissue and skin, and subtly lift and restore the lower third of the face. This procedure can reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles around the mouth and chin and correct excess sagging skin on the lower portion of the face.
A mini facelift may be the appropriate procedure for patients who want to rejuvenate facial appearance but do not have extreme sagging. The recovery for a mini facelift is faster, as the procedure is less invasive. A mini facelift can also be combined with other procedures such as a brow lift or eyelid lift to target specific areas of the face showing the signs of aging.
Mid Facelift
A mid facelift is recommended for patients who have the signs of aging concentrated in the mid-face region. While facelifts and mini facelifts are recommended for patients in their 40s and above, many patients in their 30s may choose to undergo a mid-facelift to resolve the early signs of aging skin.
The middle of the face is often the first zone to show the visible signs of aging. Fat loss in the cheeks can lead to a droopy, unhappy appearance, with creases starting to appear, adding years to your appearance.
The Mid Facelift Procedure
In a mid-facelift procedure, a small incision is created above the ear structure to gain access to the muscles, skin, and tissue, and allow a subtle repositioning for a more youthful look. The mid facelift procedure takes about an hour to complete and is the least involved of the three facelift procedure options. A mid facelift, when performed with the most advanced surgical techniques, produces a dramatic improvement in patients who want to resolve the early signs of aging.
